Robin D.'s Story
Life
After 30 years, I finally found out what I wanted to be when I grew up - a teacher. I am currently teaching Special Education at a Middle School in Newport News, VA. 7th grade, to be exact. I am working on my 2nd master's degree, and I expect to be fully licensed in Special Education by next fall. I'd like to teach high school students wtih Learning Disabilties, but for now I am teaching students with emotional disabilities. I also have a full license to teach history, which I wouldn't mind teaching.
New teachers are on 3 years of probabtion. I got through my first 2 years ok, then the 3rd year we got a new principal. m STILL trying to get another job! Budget cuts, the economy, etc, have made it difficult.
I was married once upon a time but figured out it wasn't so smart, so now I'm single (forever it feels like). I never got around to having kids, so I've got "fur kids." I live in Hampton, VA, and my mom moved down here in 2001. She is in failing health and a "joy" as always. My niece has 3 kids, and my nephew is trying to "find" himself.
I like playing games on the computer, and can currently be found in Yohoho Puzzle Pirates semi-regularly (school, work and Mom kind of take a lot of time). I also like to read, as always. I put away the trumpet, but I'm thinking of dusting it off and joining a local community orchestra. My brother retired from the Air Force and is living in San Antonio, Texas.
So, that's my exciting life for now!
